I'm alive....at least I think I am

So sorry I've been MIA the last ohhhh week or so. Things have been a little crazy and stressful. I found out VERY shortly after Emma was born mommy cannot get sick ! However, no matter how many times I tell myself  I can't get or be sick it never seems to work so here is what has been going on.

3 weeks ago, yes I let this go on that long before having myself checked out, I started having pain to which I attributed to a cyst on my ovary.Quick side note I suffer from PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) you can find info about it here from the Mayo Clinic. I figured it would go away on its own like all have done before but the pain got worse and I was in a significant amount of pain. Fast forward to this past Friday, January 27. I called my Ob's nurse and she advised me to come in on Monday for an ultrasound and I foolishly told her I would wait until TODAY February 3 to come in.

The weekend passes by and I think I'm dying not really but as some of you know I'm a bit melodramatic. I call that wonderful nurse EARLY Monday morning and beg for that afternoon ultrasound appointment. Guess what! No cysts, ovaries look fine, and I seem like a raving lunatic!!!! I know you want my story to be over here but honey I'm just gettin' started!

Come to find out I've got kidney stones. What's that you say? Kidney stones uh huh you heard me right! Undoubtedly kidney stones and ovarian cyst feel the same to me. Whodathunkit right?

So for the next 3 days I chug bottles of water and a glass of lemonade everyday with 2 cranberry pills morning and night. The occasion pain pill was added but I'm on Mommy Duty 24/7 and it isn't all that easy to function on that stuff. Finally the pain subsided and never returned Wednesday night!

So as I sit here typing this I have pain/kidney stone free for 48 hours! PRAISE THE LORD! Honest to goodness, the pain was as intense as a contraction and I just wanted to curl up in a corner and cry but I had to suck it up and put my big girl panties on, well most of the time, and take care of the girls.

Oh forgot to mention Olivia started running a temp Wednesday! That story however is for another day because early in the morning I'll hear two little voices calling me by the sweetest name, "Mommy".

I'll leave you with 2 things:
This too shall pass. Whether is be a trial or a kidney stone!

Kids REALLY do say the darnedest things!

In the 2.5 years Emma has been on this Earth she has always made us laugh! Before she could talk it was her silly faces, her falling down on purpose, the way she would play with empty diaper boxes or the box her "big girl" car seat came in, and just really the way she expressed herself.

Please note the thumbs up!
However now that she can have a small conversation, using 6-8 words per sentence, she says some very hilarious things.

During the holidays my SIL Kristin was working on something with the laptop. Emma went in there and I could hear her talking to Kristin. I strolled into the living room and told Emma not to bother Aunt Kiki and she said in the sweetest tone "but Mommy I just lookin' at pictures". I just looked at Kristin and laughed.

At night whenever she lays down in her bed she says her prayers and it never fails she follows up with "Emma tired?" we assure her yes she is tired then she goes through the list:
mommy tired?
daddy tired?
sister tired?
Nene tired? (Nene is my mom)
Poppa tired? (Poppa is my dad)
Then she asks the most innocent but funny questions "God tired?" we then explain the God never gets tired and never goes to sleep.

Whenever you get her out of her car seat she always adamantly says "I gots you!!!". As if she is carrying us! I love it when she asks for a snack and I don't have whatever she's asking for she looks at me with these pitiful eyes and tells me "I sorry".

I know these probably don't sound funny reading but if you know me and my personality just picture my personality stuffed into this little girl! She is a character, a goof, and a ham! Every time she sees my camera I hear "Mommy! You take my picture?"

She CONSTANTLY keeps me on my toes! She is WAY TOO SMART for her own good! She often gets herself in trouble with her words but many times its so funny what she says I have a hard time keeping a straight face while disciplining her.

I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Blink and she's 10 months old

Sorry I'm a day late with posting this but it seems if the cysts on my left ovary are back. I spent a better part of the evening being uncomfortable on the couch and I wasn't feeling in the blogging mood.

Well Ms. Olivia was 10 months old yesterday! Here are a few things she is up to:
  • crawling very quickly
  • cruising around the furniture
  • saying bye bye and waving at the same time but only if she feels like it (not sure where she gets her temperament-ME)
  • refuses to hold her bottle but loves her sippy cup and will hold that herself, she's temperamental I tell ya!
  • loves to eat "cheetos" which are really Gerber Lil' Crunchies
  • dislikes most baby food
  • likes most table food especially this new recipe I tried out last night (Creamy Chicken and Broccoli)
  • will give open-mouthed kisses on the cheek but only on her terms
  • loves to splash and play with her sister in the tub but despises having her face washed
She is growing and changing so much every day. Its hard to believe this was her only 10 months ago.

Now she's trying to let go of the furniture once she's pulls to stand! Next thing I know she'll be headed off to college (I hope and pray)!
She makes me smile constantly and laugh often. Telling her "no" is a common thing and her bursting into tears at the sound of that word always gets me. I love my Liv, Livie, Poot, and Pooter Bear!

Little Beginnings

So I'm extremely new to this but I've had people (mainly family because let's be honest who else really listens to our ramblings about our children that are oh-so precious and just too cute for words) that say my accounts of very true happenings around this house are fairly funny and that my chutzpah or stupidity to try new and unique recipes would be something they would like to follow. I am not, by any means, an English major so forgive the incorrect verbiage, grammar, and punctuation nor am I them smartest human being and I certainly don't claim to be.

I am happily married to an extremely hard-working man. His hard work allows me the luxury of staying home with our 2 little girls, Emma who is 2 1/2 and Olivia who is almost 10 months. Yes that's right folks I'm crazy enough to have babies 20 months apart and yes my hair is now graying faster than before but I wouldn't change it for the world.

I am firmly grounded in my beliefs that I am a sinner saved by grace! Let me tell you my church family has been there for me more than some family members (however this does not include my immediate family). This is just a little glimpse into my life but as I blog more you find out more about me and my family or maybe I should rethink this whole blogging idea y'all might think I'm certifiable.

Please follow me and the girls' on our daily adventures. I hope you love my blog and if you don't well just keep it to yourself ok!
